The ISCAR 5509960 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the FCP series, designed for precision drilling in ferrous and hard materials. It carries a 0.492-inch cutting diameter and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cuts. The drill features a 140-degree point angle, slow spiral fluting, a flat bottom style, and a web-thinned point to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. It is sized for insert seat 12 and conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Metalworking machinists and tool-room technicians install this tip as part of a modular drill body system.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling applications in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The IC908 grade is a submicron carbide grade optimized for primary use in steel and cast iron workpieces, with secondary capability in stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is appropriate for both roughing and production drilling operations on CNC machining centers and similar equipment where modular tooling systems are used.
Designed as a replaceable tip for FCP series modular drill bodies using insert seat size 12, ISO number FCP 125. Compatible with primary workpiece materials coded P and K (steel and cast iron) and secondary materials coded M, S, and H (stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC machining centers or drill presses. Ensure the drill body and taper seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate torque wrench and follow the drill body manufacturer's specified clamping procedure for the FCP series seat. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning production cuts.
