The ISCAR 5509954 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the FCP series, designed for precision drilling in ferrous and hard materials. The tip features a 0.374-inch cutting diameter with a 140-degree included angle and a thinned web point for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation. The TiAlN coating is applied via a PVD process using IC908-grade submicron solid carbide, delivering wear resistance and heat tolerance under demanding cutting conditions. With a slow spiral flute configuration and flat bottom geometry, this insert is suited for high-accuracy bore entry in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in steel, cast iron, and stainless steel applications are the primary users of this tool tip.
This replaceable tip is intended for use in drilling operations on primary workpiece materials including steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K). Secondary applications cover stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO codes M, S, and H). The FCP series design allows the tip to be swapped out without removing the drill body from the spindle, making it practical for high-volume production cells and job shops where minimizing changeover time matters. It conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, supporting compatibility with modern tool management systems.
Designed for use with ISCAR FCP series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 9 tips, ISO number FCP 095. Suitable for machining steel, cast iron, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials as defined by ISO material codes P, K, M, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the drill body and spindle are fully de-energized and the machine is in a safe lockout state before replacing the tip. Seat the replaceable tip fully into the holder using the appropriate torque wrench per the drill body manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten by hand. Verify tip seating and runout with a dial indicator before returning the tool to service.
