The ISCAR 5509933 is a DNMX-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the IC6025 manufacturer grade and features a three-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape, a positive rake geometry, and an HT chip breaker configuration optimized for the Heliturn series. It measures 15.5 mm in insert length (0.6102 decimal inches) with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.25 inch insert thickness. Licensed machinists and CNC operators specify this insert for medium to finishing passes on stainless and similar alloy workpieces.
This insert is suited for turning operations on materials classified under ISO workpiece group M, which includes stainless steels and heat-resistant alloys. The DNMX geometry with a positive rake makes it a common choice for light-to-medium material removal where surface finish and tool life are priorities. The Heliturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR helical turning toolholders that accept the DNMX insert style with clamp and pin holding methods. Maximum depth of cut is 5.00 mm (0.197 inches).
Designed for use with ISCAR Heliturn series toolholders that accept the DNMX insert style with clamp and pin holding. Insert holding method requires both a clamp and a pin-lock seat. Consult the ISCAR toolholder catalog to confirm pocket and seat compatibility before ordering.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and ISCAR-specified seating hardware; do not substitute clamp screws or pins from other manufacturers. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert, as debris under the insert will affect runout and surface finish.
