The ISCAR 5509928 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG432TF geometry, grade IC6025, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. It carries a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake and a neutral clearance angle of 0 degrees. The TF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at moderate cutting parameters. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The ISCAR 5509928 is suited for turning stainless steel and other ISO M-group workpiece materials, where built-up edge resistance and coating toughness are priorities. It is part of the Isoturn series, which covers a broad range of turning applications on conventional and high-speed turning centers. The DNMG style insert seats in a clamp-and-pin style toolholder, making it compatible with standard negative-rake DNMG pockets. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and edge integrity are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for DNMG-style clamp-and-pin turning toolholders within the Isoturn series. Confirmed primary workpiece material group is ISO M (stainless steel and similar materials).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedure in place. Seat the insert fully into the DNMG pocket before tightening the clamp to ensure proper indexing and contact with the locating pin. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each insert change. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the insert size to avoid insert fracture or premature edge failure.
