The ISCAR 5509926 is a WNMX452M4MW IC6025 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during high-speed cuts. The trigon (80-degree included angle) insert geometry uses a positive rake angle and an M4M chip breaker to promote efficient chip evacuation and controlled cutting forces. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 8.70 mm (0.3425 inches), this insert is well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where dimensional consistency is critical.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group M. It fits the ISCAR Heliturn series and is held in place using a clamp and pin holding method. Typical applications include external and internal turning of austenitic and duplex stainless grades in both production shop and job shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing commonly specify this insert for stainless steel turning programs where tool life and surface finish are both priorities.
Designed for use in ISCAR Heliturn series toolholders that accept WNMX-style inserts with a clamp and pin holding method. Consult the toolholder specification for exact insert pocket geometry before installation.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or clamping tool specified for the Heliturn toolholder to seat the clamp and pin securely without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
