The ISCAR 5509917 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMX style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the Heliturn series specification, this insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited for longitudinal turning and facing. A wiper edge is incorporated into the geometry, improving surface finish at higher feed rates without sacrificing productivity. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working on steel and stainless applications will recognize the IC6025 grade as a reliable choice for ISO M workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in Heliturn-compatible toolholders that accept CNMX-style inserts with a clamp and pin holding method. The 0.5-inch inscribed circle and CNMX insert style make it suitable for medium to heavy turning passes in production environments. The MMW chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium feeds and depths of cut, particularly on stainless steel and other ISO M-category materials. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes within its rated maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches). CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shop or high-volume production settings are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed for use in Heliturn-series CNMX-style toolholders that accept inserts with a clamp and pin holding method. This insert is rated for ISO M primary workpiece materials. Minimum order quantity is 10 units; inserts are packaged individually.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and pin are clean and free of chips before installing the insert to maintain proper seating and prevent edge microchipping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specification as printed on the toolholder documentation.
