The ISCAR 5509696 is a CNMG431NF turning insert in the Isoturn series, manufactured from solid carbide and CVD-coated with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating system. Carrying the IC6015 manufacturer grade, this insert is designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral 0-degree relief angle and a positive rake geometry. The insert measures 0.508 inches in length with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.0156 inch corner radius. It is held in place by clamp and pin methods, making it compatible with standard CNMG toolholders used in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for turning operations where wear resistance and edge stability are priorities. The IC6015 grade with CVD multilayer coating performs on a range of workpiece materials, with the primary workpiece material designation of ISO code M, indicating suitability for stainless steel and similar materials. It is used in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments. The NF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates and depths of cut. Maximum depth of cut is 0.138 inches. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed as a standard CNMG-style turning insert for use with CNMG431 toolholders and boring bars that accept clamp-and-pin style insert retention. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against the ISCAR Isoturn series toolholder catalog.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench for the clamping screw to avoid insert seat damage — refer to the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping torque values. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
