The ISCAR 5509621 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. Built to ICP-2M series specifications, this drill features a 0.685-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree included drill point angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The double-margin geometry and slow spiral flute design help maintain dimensional accuracy and chip control during drilling. The IC908 submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and edge retention required for high-productivity operations in steel and related materials. Licensed trades machinists and CNC programmers specify this insert when consistent hole quality and insert interchangeability are priorities.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for drilling operations on steel as its primary workpiece material, with additional suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICP-2M series design supports use in CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable tip replacement reduces downtime. Insert seat size 17 and ISO number ICP 174-2M define the interface geometry for proper seating and alignment in compatible toolholders. Web thinning is factory-applied to reduce thrust force at drill entry.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ICP-2M series drill bodies with insert seat size 17. ISO designation ICP 174-2M defines the interface geometry. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials per workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Replaceable tip drills should be installed and torqued using the toolholder manufacturer's specified wrench to ensure proper seating at the insert interface. Power down or lock out the machine spindle before changing any replaceable tip insert. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new tip, as contamination can cause runout and premature tip failure. Follow the machine tool and toolholder manufacturer's setup procedures for tool length offset and runout verification after every tip change.
