The ISCAR 5509366 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432PP geometry, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multi-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied over a solid carbide substrate, which builds wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert measures 8.70 mm (0.3425 inches) in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The PP chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during medium-duty turning passes. Machinists and CNC operators handling stainless steel workpieces install this insert on toolholders configured for WNMG-style clamping using a clamp-and-pin holding method.
This insert is rated for primary use on stainless steel (ISO workpiece material code M), making it a direct choice for shops running 300-series and 400-series stainless on production turning equipment. The 80-degree trigon (W-shape) geometry provides a strong cutting edge with positive rake, which reduces cutting forces on work-hardening materials. It fits into the Isoturn series toolholder system. Maximum depth of cut is 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches), placing it in the light-to-medium roughing and finishing range. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders within the ISCAR Isoturn series that accept clamp-and-pin insert retention. Compatible with turning centers and CNC lathes requiring WNMG432 insert size code geometry.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, confirm the machine is in an E-stop state and the spindle is fully stopped. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp and pin are properly engaged before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 4.00 mm to avoid edge overload on the insert.
