The ISCAR 5509302 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for use in the ICP series modular drill system. Manufactured to IC908 grade with a submicron carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers consistent edge integrity and thermal resistance in demanding cutting environments. The tip features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point geometry and a honed cutting edge for reduced entry forces. At 0.276 inches cutting diameter and 0.141 inches functional length, it is engineered for precision hole-making in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Installation follows a twist-lock holding method into a compatible ICP series drill body.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality and insert changeability are priorities. The slow spiral, two-flute design supports chip evacuation in a range of workpiece materials without through-coolant dependency. This is a consumable tooling component typically sourced and replaced by machinists and CNC programmers.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ISCAR ICP series modular drill bodies with insert seat size 7, ISO number ICP 070. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO M, K, S, H).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the drill body is fully removed from the spindle or secured in a tool presetter before tip replacement. Use the appropriate torx or ICP wrench as specified by ISCAR for the ICP series seat to achieve proper twist-lock engagement without over-torquing the insert seat. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or damage before installing a new tip to ensure accurate positioning and avoid premature insert failure.
