The ISCAR 5509161 is a replaceable drill tip designed for high-performance drilling in demanding workpiece materials. Built from solid carbide in the IC908 manufacturer grade with a submicron material grade, this tip delivers consistent edge integrity under thermal and mechanical stress. The TiAlN PVD coating reduces heat buildup and extends tool life in abrasive applications. With a 0.937-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree included drill point angle, and a T-Land style geometry with web thinning, this tip is engineered for licensed machinists and tooling professionals working in precision drilling operations. It seats in an insert seat size 23 holder and follows the ICM series platform.
This drill tip is rated primarily for stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material codes M and S. Secondary applications include steel, cast iron, and hard materials, covering ISO codes P, K, and H. It is suited for CNC machining centers and drilling operations where tip replacement reduces downtime compared to full drill replacement. The slow spiral flute type and two-flute configuration support chip evacuation in tough, work-hardening materials common in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with ICM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 23 tips. ISO number ICM 238. Compatible with workpiece materials coded M, S, P, K, and H per ISO material classification. Coolant-through is not supported by this tip.
Installation of replaceable drill tips should be performed by qualified tooling technicians or machinists with the machine in a full locked-out, zero-energy state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and tip-seating tool specified by the drill body manufacturer to secure the twist-lock connection — do not overtighten or seat by impact. Inspect the insert seat for wear or debris before each tip change. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine OEM guidelines for tool change procedures.
