The ISCAR 5509095 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries an IC908 manufacturer grade with a submicron carbide substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert features a 140-degree drill point angle, a web-thinned point for improved centering and reduced thrust, and a slow spiral flute geometry suited for work in tough materials. At 0.799 inches cutting diameter and 0.457 inches functional length, this insert mounts via a twist-holding method into compatible ICM-series drill bodies.
This tip insert is intended for industrial drilling operations in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as its primary workpiece materials. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The T-Land cutting edge style and M insert geometry make it appropriate for interrupted cuts and demanding hole-making operations on machining centers and CNC lathes with through-spindle or external coolant supply. It is used by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments where replaceable-tip drills reduce tooling changeover time.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ICM-series drill bodies with insert seat size 20, ISO number ICM 203. Compatible with primary workpiece materials stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S), and secondary workpiece materials steel, cast iron, and hard material (ISO material codes P, K, and H).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the tip insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to engage the twist-lock holding mechanism — do not overtighten by hand tools beyond the recommended procedure for the drill body. Verify cutting diameter and runout with an indicator after seating before initiating a cut.
