Product Description

The ISCAR 5509073 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use in indexable drilling systems that accept ICP series insert seats. Built from solid carbide with a submicron grain material grade and an IC908 manufacturer grade, this tip delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding production environments. The PVD-applied TiAlN coating reduces heat buildup and extends tool life across a range of workpiece materials. With a cutting diameter of 0.811 inches and a 140-degree drill point angle, the 5509073 suits precision drilling operations where hole quality and tool-change efficiency are priorities. Installation is handled by machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC drilling and machining centers.

This replaceable drill tip is intended for drilling applications in steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, making it a versatile insert across multiple material groups as defined by ISO 13399 workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H. The slow spiral flute geometry and honed cutting edge style support chip evacuation and edge stability in these material groups. The web-thinned point reduces entry force and improves centering at the drill start.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction with submicron grain IC908 material grade for wear resistance
  • PVD-applied TiAlN coating for thermal protection and extended tool life
  • 140-degree included angle with thinned point for reduced entry force and accurate hole starts
  • Slow spiral, 2-flute design promotes chip evacuation in steel and stainless steel
  • Honed cutting edge style for edge stability and consistent surface finish
  • Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards

Compatibility

Designed for use with ICP series indexable drill bodies accepting insert seat size 20. Compatible with primary workpiece material Steel (P) and secondary materials Stainless Steel (M), Cast Iron (K), Super-alloys and Titanium (S), and Hard Material (H). ISO number ICP 206.

Installation Notes

This replaceable tip is installed and changed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool removed from the turret or spindle before tip replacement. Use the appropriate torque wrench and toolholder key specified by the drill body manufacturer when seating the insert to avoid damaging the twist-lock holding mechanism. Do not exceed the drill body manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the IC908 grade and workpiece material combination.
