The ISCAR 5508790 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to ICP-2M series standards and manufactured in grade IC908 with a submicron carbide substrate, this drill tip features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance. The 140-degree included angle and double-margin point geometry promote accurate entry and stable cutting action. With a cutting diameter of 0.61 inches and a functional length of 0.344 inches, this tip is intended for installation into compatible ICP-2M series drill bodies. It is suited for use by machining professionals in production and job shop environments.
This replaceable tip drill is engineered primarily for steel machining, with secondary capability in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The slow spiral flute design and web-thinned geometry help manage chip evacuation and reduce thrust in tougher workpiece materials. The twist-lock insert holding method provides secure seating in the drill body shank. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers and manual drilling operations where controlled feed rates and rigid setups can be maintained. This tip conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation.
Designed for use with compatible ICP-2M series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting an insert seat size of 15 and ISO number ICP 155-2M. Verify body compatibility before ordering.
Installation of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by qualified machinists following the tool manufacturer's assembly procedure for the ICP-2M drill body. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is powered down before tip exchange. Use the specified torque tool or wrench supplied with the drill body — do not over-torque the twist-lock interface. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before inserting the tip to avoid seating errors that can lead to premature tip failure.
