The ISCAR 5508582 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICK series, designed for high-productivity drilling operations in metalworking environments. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned, honed cutting edge. The two-flute slow spiral geometry promotes chip evacuation, while the web-thinned point reduces thrust load at entry. With a cutting diameter of 0.673 inches and a functional length of 0.23 inches, this replaceable tip is engineered for the IC908 grade, a submicron carbide grade suited to demanding workpiece materials. Installation is performed by machining professionals in production and job-shop settings.
This drill tip is intended primarily for cast iron machining and is also rated for steel, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ICK series replaceable tip system allows the cutting head to be swapped at the machine without removing the drill body, reducing changeover time in high-volume drilling applications. The twist-type insert holding method locks the tip securely in the compatible ICK drill body shank. Conformance to ISO 13399 means tooling data integrates cleanly with CAM software and tool management systems.
Designed for use with compatible ICK series drill body shanks using insert seat size 17 and ISO number ICK 171. Refer to the ISCAR ICK series tooling catalog to confirm body-to-tip pairing before installation.
Replaceable tip drills in the ICK series are installed and removed by machining technicians using the manufacturer-specified torque wrench or key. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing the drill tip. Confirm the mating surfaces of the drill body shank are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip. Follow ISCAR tooling guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures during changeover.
