The ISCAR 5508572 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining environments. Part of the ICP series, this tip features an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for extended tool life and thermal resistance at the cutting edge. The drill point is ground to a 140-degree included angle with web thinning and a honed cutting edge for improved chip formation and reduced thrust load. With a cutting diameter of 0.673 inches and a functional length of 0.29 inches, it suits short-reach drilling operations where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical.
This replaceable tip is intended for use in CNC machining centers and turning centers performing drilling operations on steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The slow-spiral flute geometry and honed edge preparation make this tip well suited for applications where built-up edge and tool deflection must be minimized. It fits ICP series modular drill bodies using insert seat size 17 and is held in place by a twist-lock method. Minimum order quantity is 2 tips per order; package quantity is 1.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICP series modular drill bodies requiring insert seat size 17, per ISO 13399 tooling standards. The tip carries ISO number ICP 171.
Installation and removal of replaceable carbide tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using the torque tooling supplied or recommended by the manufacturer for the specific modular drill body. Ensure the drill body spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before tip replacement. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before seating the new tip, as contamination can affect runout and tip retention. Do not use impact tools or excessive force when engaging the twist-lock mechanism.
