The ISCAR 5508552 is a carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Carrying the ANSI and ISO designation LNMX150616RHT, it belongs to ISCARs Heliturn series and is coated with a CVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer finish. That three-layer coating delivers the wear resistance and toughness balance required for finishing and medium machining passes. The insert features a rectangular LNMX shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 1/16-inch (0.0625-inch) corner radius, a negative side clearance, and a right-hand cutting orientation. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible Heliturn toolholders for high-productivity external turning operations.
This insert is suited for turning applications on steel (P-category), stainless steel (M-category), and hardened materials (H-category) workpieces. The IC8350 grade is engineered to provide moderate wear resistance and toughness for steel, high to moderate wear resistance for stainless steel, and moderate wear resistance and toughness for hardened materials. The HT chip breaker geometry supports finishing and medium machining operations, making it a practical choice for both production turning cells and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and controlled chip formation are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCAR Heliturn series screw-clamped turning toolholders accepting the LNMX insert style with an ISO size code of 150616 and a negative clearance seating configuration.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Shut down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert, and verify insert orientation matches the right-hand cutting direction requirement.
