The ISCAR 5508545 is a WNMG432TF IC8350 grade turning insert designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the TF chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, it suits medium to finishing turning passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will find this insert well suited to high-productivity turning applications.
This insert is intended for turning stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. It fits within the Isoturn series and is compatible with standard WNMG-style insert toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods. The TF chip breaker geometry supports positive rake cutting action, making it effective for achieving consistent surface finishes on difficult-to-machine stainless alloys as well as carbon and alloy steels. Typical applications include OD turning, facing, and profiling on horizontal and vertical turning equipment in production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed for use in standard WNMG-style insert toolholders that accept clamp and pin holding. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO group M) and steel (ISO group P) as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the machine and follow lockout/tagout procedures in accordance with applicable shop safety protocols. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and secure the clamp and pin to manufacturer-specified holding requirements before resuming operation. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris prior to installation to ensure proper seating and edge alignment.
