The ISCAR 5508521 is a TNMA-style solid carbide turning insert designed for metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Carrying ISCAR grade IC5010, it features a CVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiN multilayer coating that delivers a combination of wear resistance and thermal stability suited to demanding turning applications. The insert measures 22 millimeters (0.866 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius. Triangle geometry with a 60-degree included angle and a neutral relief angle (N clearance code) defines the cutting envelope. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a clamped or pin-lock toolholder system.
The ISCAR 5508521 is positioned within the Isoturn series and is primarily intended for turning cast iron workpieces (ISO material group K). It suits finishing and semi-finishing passes where consistent surface finish and tool life are priorities. The TNMA insert style with chip breaker code A and tolerance code M makes it compatible with toolholders designed around that geometry. Maximum depth of cut reaches 5.00 millimeters (0.197 inches), placing it in light-to-medium material removal duty. This insert is packaged individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in TNMA-style toolholders that accept clamp or pin holding methods within the Isoturn series. Optimized for cast iron workpiece materials (ISO group K). Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR Isoturn toolholder specifications for TNMA 433 inserts.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque tool for the clamp or pin-lock fastener as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper contact and avoid premature edge failure.
