The ISCAR 5508459 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICM series, designed for demanding hole-making operations in difficult-to-machine materials. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in high-heat cutting environments. The 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point reduces entry forces and improves centering, while the slow-spiral, two-flute geometry supports chip evacuation in tough alloys. Cutting diameter is 0.606 inches, and the tip measures 0.344 inches in height. This insert is installed and replaced by machinists and tooling technicians as part of a modular drilling system.
The ICM0606 tip is suited for production drilling in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, which correspond to ISO material groups M and S. Secondary applications include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO groups P, K, and H). The T-Land cutting edge style reinforces edge strength when cutting work-hardening grades and interrupted cuts. Typical use cases include aerospace, energy, and precision machining environments where tool changeover speed and consistent hole geometry are critical. The tip seats into ICM-series drill bodies with an insert seat size of 15.
Designed for use with ICM-series replaceable tip drill bodies, insert seat size 15. The ISO number for this tip is ICM 154. Verify body series and seat size before ordering to confirm fitment.
Replaceable tip drills of this type are installed and serviced by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the drill body is fully de-energized and the spindle is locked before removing or seating the tip. Seat the tip fully into the body pocket and confirm positive engagement before initiating a cut. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque guidance for the specific body model; do not overtighten or force the tip into a damaged seat.
