The ISCAR 5508456 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICM series, designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. The tip carries an IC908 submicron grade carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life. It features a 140-degree included angle with a web-thinned, T-Land point geometry and a slow spiral, two-flute configuration. The cutting diameter is 0.594 inches (19/32 inch), with a functional length of 0.254 inches and an overall height of 0.344 inches. Installation uses a twist-type insert holding method into compatible ICM series bodies. This tip is suited for machining operations where edge strength and coating adhesion are critical.
This replaceable tip is engineered primarily for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary applications include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, K, and H). The ICM series platform is used in production machining environments where tip replacement extends body life and reduces per-hole cost. Typical users include CNC machining centers in aerospace, oil and gas, and general metalworking shops. The ISO 13399 standard compliance supports integration with tool management systems. Insert seat size is 15, conforming to ICM 151 product group geometry.
Designed for use in ISCAR ICM series replaceable tip drill bodies with insert seat size 15, conforming to the ICM 151 product group. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials.
Installation of replaceable tip drills is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Before tip exchange, ensure the machine spindle is locked out and at a full stop. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key for the twist-locking seat — do not use impact tools on the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and coolant ports for chips or debris before seating the new tip.
