The ISCAR 5508455 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial applications. Manufactured under the IC908 grade using a submicron carbide substrate, this tip features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for improved wear resistance and heat dissipation at the cutting edge. The drill tip measures 0.591 inches in cutting diameter with a 140-degree included angle and a thinned web point geometry. Its slow spiral, T-Land flute design promotes controlled chip evacuation. The insert is held in place via twist-style seating and conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Installation is performed by qualified machinists in CNC or manual drilling operations.
This replaceable tip is engineered for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and hard materials. It fits into Series ICM drill bodies using an ISO Number ICM 150 seat configuration, making it applicable in aerospace, energy, and precision manufacturing environments where tight tolerances and difficult-to-machine alloys are common. The 0.344-inch overall projection height and T-Land geometry support stable entry and reduced radial forces in interrupted or solid material drilling.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series drill bodies accepting ISO seat size 15 inserts, ISO Number ICM 150. Compatible drill bodies accept replaceable tips at 0.591 inches cutting diameter. Verify body series and seat size before ordering.
Replaceable tip drills of this type are installed and changed by machinists or tooling technicians following machine lockout and spindle stop procedures. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or hex key to seat the tip securely in the drill body; do not overtighten or use impact tools on the insert screw. Confirm seating alignment before resuming operation. Follow the drill body manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure and inspect the seat for wear or debris before each tip change.
