The ISCAR 5508414 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICK series, designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Carrying the IC908 manufacturer grade with a submicron carbide substrate, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The 140-degree included angle and honed cutting edge geometry support stable entry and reduced thrust in hard and interrupted materials. The slow-spiral, web-thinned flute configuration improves chip evacuation. A licensed machinist or CNC toolroom technician typically installs and qualifies this insert in an ICK-series drill body.
This replaceable tip drill insert is intended for drilling operations in cast iron as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for steel, stainless steel, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is sized for an ISO insert seat size 13 body in the ICK series and conforms to ISO 13399 tooling standards. Typical applications include CNC machining centers, automated drilling lines, and manual mill-drill setups where repeatable hole geometry and tool change speed are priorities. The two-flute spiral geometry handles a wide range of feed and speed combinations across the supported material grades.
Designed for use in ISCAR ICK-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 13, ISO number ICK 130. Compatible primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K); secondary compatible materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), super-alloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).
Installation of replaceable tip drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable OSHA and facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat and clamping surfaces in the drill body should be inspected and cleaned before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the IC908 grade and TiAlN coating when transitioning between workpiece materials. Refer to the ISCAR ICK series application guide for body torque and setup specifications.
