The ISCAR 5508412 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for the ICM drill body platform. It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which supports heat resistance and wear life during interrupted and continuous drilling operations. The insert features a 140-degree drill point angle with a web-thinned, T-Land geometry and slow spiral flute configuration. Grade IC908 submicron carbide substrate is selected for demanding cutting conditions involving difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in CNC machining centers and drilling stations.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as the primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The 0.543-inch cutting diameter and two-flute spiral design support chip evacuation in deep-hole and short-hole drilling cycles. The ICM series platform targets production environments where tip replacement without full tool discard is a workflow requirement. Insert Seat Size 13 positions this insert within the appropriate ICM body range.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series drill bodies at Insert Seat Size 13, conforming to ISO 13399 tooling data standards. Compatible primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials.
Installation of replaceable tip drill inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility safety procedures. The insert seating interface and clamping mechanism should be cleaned and inspected before each tip change to ensure proper seating and runout. Refer to the ISCAR ICM body torque and assembly instructions for the correct tightening procedure for the twist-lock insert holding method. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed parameters for the workpiece material and coating grade in use.
