The ISCAR 5508394 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICP series, designed for precision drilling operations in demanding metalworking environments. It carries manufacturer grade IC908 with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing heat and wear resistance during high-productivity drilling. The cutting diameter measures 0.512 inches (13mm), with a functional length of 0.222 inches and an overall height of 0.299 inches (7.59mm). The drill tip features a 140-degree included angle and a thinned point geometry with a honed cutting edge, contributing to stable entry and reduced thrust force. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in precision machining shops are the primary installers of this replaceable tip style.
The ICP0512 IC908 tip is intended for drilling into steel as its primary workpiece material, classified under ISO material code P. Secondary application materials include stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO codes M, K, S, and H respectively. Its slow spiral flute design and twist-style insert holding method suit it for controlled chip evacuation in these material groups. The part conforms to ISO 13399 standards, making it compatible with ISO-compliant tooling data systems. It is packaged individually and sold in multiples of two units minimum.
Designed for use with ICP series drill bodies accepting a 13mm insert seat size, ISO number ICP 130. Verify insert seat size and series designation on the drill body before ordering.
Replaceable tip drill inserts of this type are installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and de-energized before tip removal or installation. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating procedure for the ICP body to ensure proper tip engagement. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material classification being machined.
