The ISCAR 5508390 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. The tip carries the IC908 grade designation and is manufactured from submicron solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. It features a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web point, a T-Land style, and a slow spiral flute configuration. At 0.488 inches cutting diameter and 0.276 inches in height, it is a compact insert suited for precision drilling operations. Installation is handled by licensed machinists and tooling professionals in metalworking and manufacturing environments.
This replaceable tip is engineered primarily for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The ICM series design allows the tip to be swapped into compatible ICM drill bodies without replacing the entire tool, reducing tooling cost in high-cycle production environments. It is a strong fit for aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing applications where difficult materials demand consistent edge geometry and thermal resistance. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Designed for use with compatible ISCAR ICM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 12 and ISO Number ICM 124. Verify body compatibility before ordering. Minimum order quantity is 2 units; package quantity is 1.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the drill body is fully de-energized and secured in the machine spindle before seating or removing the tip insert. Use the correct torque driver specified for the ICM body to seat the twist-held insert without over-torquing the retention screw. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before each tip change to maintain concentricity and runout tolerances.
