The ISCAR 5508319 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. Manufactured under ISCAR grade IC908, the tip is constructed from solid carbide using a submicron material grade and applied with a PVD TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance. The 140-degree included angle and thinned web point geometry reduce entry force and help center the drill accurately on the workpiece. With a 0.319-inch cutting diameter and a 0.165-inch functional length, this insert fits ICM series drill bodies and is installed and swapped by tool-room technicians and CNC machinists in production environments.
This replaceable tip insert is engineered primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material codes M and S. Secondary suitability extends to steel, cast iron, and hard materials, covering ISO codes P, K, and H. The slow spiral flute type and T-Land style geometry make it well-suited for controlled chip evacuation in materials that work-harden or generate high cutting temperatures. It is a direct replacement insert for ICM series drill bodies with insert seat size 8, conforming to ISO 13399 standards.
Designed for use with ICM series replaceable tip drill bodies, insert seat size 8, ISO number ICM 081. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials.
Replaceable tip drill inserts of this type are seated and torqued into compatible drill bodies by machinists or tool-crib technicians following the drill body manufacturer's seating procedure. Always index the tip fully into the seat before applying torque to the retaining mechanism. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before each insert change to ensure accurate seating and runout. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed parameters published in the drill body manufacturer's application data for the workpiece material being machined.
