The ISCAR 5508311 is a replaceable drill tip designed for modular drilling systems that accept ICP-series seat size 8 toolholders. Manufactured from solid carbide with a submicron grade substrate and PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this tip delivers the wear resistance and edge integrity required for high-productivity hole-making in steel and other demanding materials. The 140-degree point angle reduces thrust force and improves centering accuracy on entry. With a cutting diameter of 0.3310 inches (8.00 mm) and a two-flute helical configuration, it suits through-hole and blind-hole drilling applications on CNC machining centers and lathes. Installed by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This drill tip is suited for drilling, chamfering, and gundrilling operations. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P). Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO M, K, S, H). The ICP series is engineered for indexable modular drill bodies, allowing tip replacement without removing the toolholder from the spindle. Typical applications include precision hole-making on CNC turning centers and vertical or horizontal machining centers where consistent diameter and surface finish are required.
Designed for use with ICP-series modular drill toolholders accepting insert seat size 8. ISO number ICP 084. Verify seat size and series designation against the toolholder specification before installation.
Replaceable drill tips of this type are installed and removed by qualified machinists using the clamp-style holding method specified for ICP-series toolholders. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured before tip removal or installation. Inspect the seat for chips, debris, or damage before seating the new tip, as contamination at the interface directly affects runout and hole quality. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedure for the specific body model in use.
