The ISCAR 5508305 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for precision hole-making operations in demanding industrial machining applications. Manufactured to grade IC908 using a submicron carbide substrate, this tip carries a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for extended tool life and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The tip measures 11.91mm (15/32 inch) in cutting diameter with a 140-degree included angle and a standard point geometry. Helical fluting with a regular spiral and web-thinned construction supports chip evacuation and reduces entry thrust. This is a replacement tip, not a complete drill assembly, and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians into compatible ICM-series drill bodies.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling operations in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as the primary workpiece materials. It is also rated for secondary use in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The ICM series platform is intended for production environments where tip replacement rather than full tool replacement is the preferred maintenance workflow. Insert seat size 11 and ISO number ICM 119 identify the correct holder pairing. Applications include general hole making and drilling in both roughing and finish contexts where tight diameter tolerances are required.
Designed for use with ICM-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 11 and ISO number ICM 119, as specified by the manufacturer. Confirm holder compatibility before installation.
Installation of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill body and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip. Use the correct clamping torque as specified by the drill body manufacturer — do not estimate or substitute values. Handle carbide tips carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
