The ISCAR 5508299 is a replaceable drill tip designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials including stainless steel, titanium, and superalloys. Manufactured from solid carbide with a submicron material grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this tip delivers thermal and wear resistance in difficult cutting applications. It carries ISCAR manufacturer grade IC908 and belongs to the ICM series. The tip features a 140-degree drill point angle, spiral flute geometry, and a T-Land style with web thinning to reduce entry forces and improve chip flow. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists integrate this tip into compatible ISCAR drill bodies for precision hole-making operations in metalworking environments.
The 5508299 is suited for drilling operations in both primary and secondary workpiece materials. Primary applications target stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, classified under ISO material codes M and S. Secondary applications include steel, cast iron, and hard materials under ISO codes P, K, and H. The slow spiral flute type supports chip evacuation in these tougher materials. With an insert seat size of 11 and ISO number ICM 113, this tip is positioned for use in production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in difficult-to-machine materials is required.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 11, per ISO number ICM 113. Confirm holder compatibility against ISCAR tooling documentation before installation.
This replaceable drill tip is installed and serviced by machinists and toolroom professionals. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating the drill tip. Use the correct ISCAR installation tool or torx key specified for the holder to seat the tip securely without over-torquing the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before each tip change to maintain runout tolerance and hole quality.
