The ISCAR 5508296 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICM series, engineered for precision drilling in demanding machining applications. Manufactured from submicron carbide in grade IC908 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in difficult-to-machine materials. The tip features a 140-degree included angle, a web-thinned point, and a slow-spiral, T-land geometry with two flutes. The insert seat size is 11mm, with a cutting diameter of 0.433 inches and a functional length of 0.194 inches. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using compatible ICM-series drill bodies.
This replaceable tip insert is designed for drilling operations in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials. It is also suited for use in steel, cast iron, and hard materials as secondary applications. The ICM series is used in CNC machining centers and turning centers where tool-tip replacement reduces downtime compared to full drill replacement. Spiral flute geometry and web thinning support chip evacuation in these materials. This insert conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for ICM-series drill bodies with an 11mm insert seat size. Compatible body selection should be confirmed against the ICM 110 ISO number designation. Verify body and insert compatibility before use.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the drill body is fully removed from the machine spindle and all motion has stopped before changing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque tool or wrench for the twist-lock retention method to ensure proper seating. Do not force the insert into the seat or operate with a damaged or improperly seated tip, as this can result in tool failure or workpiece damage.
