The ISCAR 5508061 is a CNMG432-style indexable turning insert designed for metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack, making it well suited for steel and cast iron turning operations where wear resistance and thermal stability are critical. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a corner radius of 0.03125 inches. It uses a clamp and pin holding method and carries a G-style chip breaker geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this consumable tooling component.
This insert is intended for external and internal turning applications in general-purpose and production machining environments. The CNMG form factor fits standard CNMG toolholders with N clearance and M tolerance class seating. The IC5010 carbide grade is optimized for continuous and light-interrupted cuts in steel, where the multilayer CVD coating delivers consistent edge life across moderate to high cutting speeds. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes depending on feed and depth-of-cut selection.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNMG432 indexable toolholders with N clearance and M tolerance seating, consistent with standard ISO and ANSI toolholder specifications for this insert form factor.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench for clamp screws per toolholder manufacturer specifications, and inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not use a damaged or deformed insert pocket, as this will compromise edge geometry and may create a safety hazard.
