The ISCAR 5507954 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. Carrying the AOMT insert style with an IC808 manufacturer grade and a PVD coating process, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding shop environments. It features an 85-degree parallelogram shape, a 0.0157-inch (0.40 mm) corner radius, and a DT chipbreaker geometry. The insert belongs to ISCAR's PRE-THREAD series and conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians typically specify this insert for high-productivity drilling applications.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range includes hardened steels, cast irons, general steels, stainless steels, and heat-resistant superalloys, making it a versatile choice for job shops running mixed-material production. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units, which is standard practice for indexable carbide inserts used in production drilling programs.
Designed as a direct replacement insert for ISCAR PRE-THREAD series indexable drill bodies that accept AOMT04 insert style seats. Specific drill body compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR tooling catalogs using insert size code 040204.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a fixture or vise before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct ISCAR torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the drill body manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before fitting a new insert.
