The ISCAR 5507932 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SPMR422 style, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. This insert carries ISCAR grade IC8250 with a multilayer PVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. It features a 90-degree square shape with a positive rake geometry and an 11-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert thickness is 0.125 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inches). It belongs to the Isoturn series and is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpiece materials, consistent with its primary workpiece material classification of P and secondary classification of M under ISO material coding. It fits into Isoturn-compatible clamp-style toolholders accepting SPMR-style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2362 inches (6.00 mm). It is well suited to medium-duty finishing and semi-finishing passes in shop and production environments where consistent surface finish and edge life are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Isoturn-series clamp toolholders accepting SPMR422-style solid carbide inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a standard 1/32-inch corner radius.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamp is torqued securely before resuming cuts. Inspect the cutting edge and corner radius before each use and replace the insert at the first sign of chipping, wear, or built-up edge to maintain dimensional accuracy and workpiece surface quality.
