The ISCAR 5507866 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the CNMG433TF geometry designation, which specifies an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral (0-degree) relief angle, a medium tolerance class, and a TF chip breaker profile suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.508 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch corner radius. The IC807 grade combines a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN plus TiN multilayer coating, giving the cutting edge good wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This insert is rated for universal application, covering ISO material groups P (steel), M (stainless), K (cast iron), H (hardened), and S (superalloys and titanium). It is well suited for medium-to-light chip loads in turning centers running automated cycles, as well as manual lathe work where consistent edge geometry across a batch is required. The TF chip breaker geometry channels chips away from the cutting zone effectively during finishing passes, minimizing built-up edge and surface finish disruption. Maximum depth of cut is 4.5 mm (0.177 inches), making this insert appropriate for light roughing through fine finishing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for CNMG433 geometry turning inserts. Compatible with standard CNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin holding methods. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and insert thickness clearance before installation. Conforms to ISO 13399 insert identification standards.
Insert replacement and toolholder service should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied. Use proper insert handling tools or finger cots to avoid contact with the coated cutting edges. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamp or pin is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris that could prevent proper seating and affect cutting geometry.
