The ISCAR 5507831 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432GN geometry, offered in the IC8150 grade with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 multilayer coating. This trigon-style insert features an 80-degree included angle, a neutral clearance (N), and medium tolerance (M) classification. The GN chip breaker geometry manages chip flow across a range of turning operations. At 8.70 mm in length with a 0.50-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for general turning work on lathes and turning centers. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators running production or job-shop turning operations.
The 5507831 is part of the Isoturn series, designed for external and internal turning applications. The IC8150 grade is suited for steel (ISO P) as the primary workpiece material and cast iron (ISO K) as a secondary workpiece material. This insert handles a maximum depth of cut of 4.50 mm (0.177 inches) and is held in place using clamp or pin toolholders that accept the WNMG insert style. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning on CNC lathes in both production and repair-shop environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for WNMG432GN-style insert pockets using clamp or pin holding systems that accept the WNMG insert form. Verify toolholder insert pocket geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Use a torque wrench appropriate for the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping screw requirements. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for chips or damage before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's guidance and applicable shop safety procedures when indexing or replacing cutting inserts.
