The ISCAR 5507822 is a CNMG 431-NF indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. Part of the Isoturn series, this insert is designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The 80-degree diamond shape (C) with a neutral 0-degree relief angle (N) and M-tolerance class delivers consistent dimensional accuracy across indexed edges. The NF chip breaker geometry supports positive-rake cutting action, making it well suited for finishing and light roughing passes on ferrous workpiece materials.
This insert is primarily rated for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P) applications. The Isoturn series is a general-purpose turning platform used in production and job-shop environments on both vertical and horizontal turning centers. The multi-use designation also qualifies this insert for boring operations. It is packaged individually and sold in multiples of 10, making it a standard production consumable for shops running high-volume turning programs.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick diamond insert with clamp or pin holding. Compatible with turning centers and CNC lathes running stainless steel and steel workpieces. Also suitable for boring bar applications that accept CNMG 431 inserts.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and zero-return the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seat are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert, as debris under the insert will affect surface finish and edge life. Torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification, not to a generic value, and verify insert seating before resuming cuts.
