The ISCAR 5507720 is a CNMG432NR IC5005 grade carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.508 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited for roughing and medium machining passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders using a clamp or pin holding method.
This insert is designed for turning cast iron, steel, and hardened materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, K, and H. It performs in roughing and medium machining applications where high wear resistance is the primary requirement. The NR chip breaker geometry helps control chip flow during interrupted or continuous cuts at moderate-to-aggressive depths of cut up to 4.50 mm (0.177 inches). It is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series and conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO insert code CNMG120408, making it a direct specification match for toolholders built to those standards.
Compatible with toolholders designed to accept ANSI insert code CNMG432 or ISO insert code CNMG120408 using clamp or pin insert holding methods. Suitable for machining cast iron, steel, and hardened materials in ISO material groups P, K, and H.
This insert is installed by licensed machinists or CNC tool-setup personnel. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to ensure proper edge indexing. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before each insert change to avoid premature edge failure.
