The ISCAR 5507665 is a CNMG432NR-geometry indexable turning insert in the Isoturn series, manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. This insert fits standard CNMG toolholders using a clamp-and-pin holding method and is designed for external and internal turning operations. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the NR chip breaker is engineered to manage chip flow during continuous cutting. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement in production turning setups targeting cast iron and steel workpieces.
This insert is suited for medium to general-purpose turning of cast iron and steel in both roughing and finishing passes. The IC9150 grade delivers wear resistance and thermal stability under the heat and pressure generated during steel and cast iron turning. It fits CNMG432 toolholder pockets commonly found on CNC lathes and manual turret lathes in job shop and production environments. The NR chip breaker geometry handles moderate feed rates and depths of cut up to 4.50 mm (0.1772 inches).
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CNMG432 toolholder pockets. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron (ISO material code K) and steel (ISO material code P). Compatible with clamp-and-pin style CNMG toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool-crib technicians. Always index or replace the insert with the machine at a full stop and all axes locked. Use a torque wrench calibrated to the toolholder manufacturer's specification when tightening the clamp screw — do not rely on hand feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or damage before seating a new insert, as debris under the insert can cause deflection and premature edge failure.
