The ISCAR 5507596 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ISCARMILL series, designed for indexable milling applications in steel and stainless steel. The insert carries ANSI designation TPU 321 IC9054 and ISO code TPUN 160304. It features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, three cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry with an 11-degree relief angle. The IC9054 grade is produced via CVD coating, applying a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack to the solid carbide substrate. The corner radius measures 0.0157 inches (0.40 mm), and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.3748 inches. The insert is single-sided with a flat-top chip breaker and is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder.
This insert is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling of steel and stainless steel workpieces in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. The IC9054 CVD grade is optimized for P and M material classifications per ISO designation, covering carbon steels, alloy steels, and austenitic stainless steels. It fits ISCARMILL-series milling bodies that accept TPU 321 style inserts. The neutral hand orientation allows use across a wide range of compatible toolholders. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.6142 inches, making it appropriate for moderate material removal rates in production milling environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISCARMILL-series milling toolholders that accept TPU 321 style clamp-held inserts with an inscribed circle of 3/8 inch and 1/8 inch thickness.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle locked and machine power isolated. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Ensure the seating surface is clean and free of chips to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
