The ISCAR 5507561 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG643GN geometry, part of the Isoturn series. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted turning operations. The insert features a 90-degree square shape with a 0.75 inch inscribed circle, a 0.25 inch thickness, and a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) corner radius. Clearance code N and tolerance code M align with standard SNMG toolholder pockets. The GN chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in medium to finishing cuts on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is intended for turning applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. It suits medium turning and finishing passes on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in job shop, production machining, and maintenance machining environments. The maximum depth of cut is 7.00 mm (0.2756 inches), making it well suited for light to medium stock removal. It is installed and managed by machinists and CNC operators working with indexable toolholding systems.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable replacement insert for SNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch inscribed circle, 1/4 inch thick, 90-degree square insert with clearance code N and tolerance code M. Compatible with clamp and pin holding methods per standard SNMG pocket geometry.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware when seating the insert to avoid micro-fractures at the cutting edge. Do not use damaged or out-of-spec toolholders, as improper seating can cause premature insert failure or workpiece damage.
