The ISCAR 5506741 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding workpiece materials. It features an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN finish that resists heat and wear during aggressive drilling cycles. The cutting diameter is 1.295 inches (32.89 mm), and the tip height is 0.73 inches (18.54 mm). The drill point is ground at a 140-degree included angle with a thinned web and T-Land style geometry. Two slow-spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently while keeping cutting forces manageable in difficult alloys. This part is installed by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC drilling applications.
The ISCAR 5506741 is engineered primarily for drilling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, which are classified under ISO workpiece material codes M and S. It is also rated for secondary applications in steel, cast iron, and hard materials (codes P, K, and H). The replaceable-tip design allows the carbide insert to be swapped without replacing the entire drill body, making it well suited for high-volume production environments where minimizing downtime is critical. The ICM series uses an ISO 13399-compliant interface for standardized tooling data integration.
The ISCAR 5506741 tip is sized for the ICM series insert seat size 32 drill bodies. Primary workpiece compatibility is stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M and S). Secondary workpiece compatibility includes steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, K, and H). Verify seat size and series compatibility with your drill body before ordering.
Replaceable carbide drill tips must be seated and torqued into the holder body using the manufacturer-specified torque wrench to avoid insert rocking or pullout. Always inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or damage before seating a new tip. Machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool secured in a vise or tool holder fixture before tip removal or installation. Follow your facility lockout-tagout procedure before performing any tooling changes on a live machine.
