The ISCAR 5506715 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICM series, designed for high-accuracy drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The tip carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process and is manufactured to IC908 grade using submicron carbide substrate. It features a 0.945-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a slow spiral, two-flute geometry with web thinning and T-Land style cutting edges. These characteristics combine to deliver controlled chip evacuation and edge stability when drilling difficult materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the primary installers and users of this tooling.
This replaceable tip drill is engineered primarily for use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — ISO material codes M and S. It also performs in secondary applications involving steel, cast iron, and hard materials — ISO material codes P, K, and H. The ICM series tip design seats into compatible ICM drill bodies at insert seat size 24, conforming to ISO 13399 tooling data standards. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling on CNC machining centers and milling machines where repeatable tip replacement is preferred over regrinding solid drills.
Designed for use with compatible ISCAR ICM series drill bodies at insert seat size 24, ISO number ICM 240. Verify body seat size and series designation before ordering.
Installation and indexing of replaceable carbide tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the drill body is clean and free of chips or debris in the tip seat before seating the insert. Use the correct torque key or wrench as specified by the drill body manufacturer — do not over-torque or substitute hardware. Confirm spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe state before changing or inspecting tips.
