The ISCAR 5506710 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert from the ICM series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The insert carries IC908 grade solid carbide construction with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in interrupted or continuous cuts. The 140-degree included angle with a thinned point reduces entry thrust and improves centering. The slow spiral, T-Land geometry with web thinning is suited to the chip characteristics of stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians typically handle installation and indexing of this insert type.
The ISCAR 5506710 is engineered for use with ICM-series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting an insert seat size 22 and ISO number ICM 225. Primary target workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Secondary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO codes P, K, and H). This insert fits controlled production environments such as CNC machining centers where precise, repeatable drilling in difficult alloys is required. Coolant delivery is not through-coolant on this insert style.
Designed for use with ISCAR ICM-series drill bodies that accept insert seat size 22 and ISO designation ICM 225. Verify body seat condition and torque procedure per ISCAR tooling documentation before installation.
Installation of replaceable tip drill inserts is performed by qualified machinists following the drill body manufacturer's seating and torque procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert, as a contaminated seat will affect runout and hole quality. Follow ISCAR tooling documentation for the correct twist-lock engagement sequence specific to the ICM series body.
