The ISCAR 5506681 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill from the ICP series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking applications. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN finish, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The drill features a 140-degree included angle, a thinned point, and a slow spiral flute configuration with a honed cutting edge. At 1.256 inches cutting diameter and 0.513 inches functional length, this insert fits a compatible ICP shank body. Licensed HVAC technicians, machinists, and toolroom professionals handling precision drilling in production environments are the primary users.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling operations in steel and stainless steel, with additional rated capability in cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. The ISO Number ICP 319 identifies the seat size and tip geometry for proper shank matching. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers and similar rigid setups where close-tolerance holes are required in both light and medium-duty production cycles. The two-flute spiral design promotes chip evacuation in these materials when proper feed and speed parameters are applied.
Designed for use with ICP series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 31 and ISO number ICP 319. Verify shank body compatibility by seat size and ISO designation before ordering. No coolant-through capability; select a standard external coolant setup.
Installation of replaceable tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is powered down and locked out before seating or removing the tip. Use the correct torque wrench and tip-seating procedure specified by the shank body manufacturer to prevent tip damage or improper seating. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before installing the new tip.
