The ISCAR 5506669 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the ICP series, designed to fit modular drill bodies used in precision metal-cutting operations. This insert carries the IC908 manufacturer grade, a submicron carbide substrate applied with a PVD TiAlN finish for extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The cutting diameter is 1.098 inches (27.89mm), and the insert height is 0.616 inches (15.65mm). The geometry features a 140-degree drill point angle, a slow spiral flute configuration, a honed cutting edge style, and a web-thinned point to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. It is intended for professional machining environments where tooling consistency and repeatable insert exchange are critical.
This replaceable tip insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It is a strong fit for production shops, job shops, and toolrooms running CNC machining centers or turning centers where modular drill systems reduce changeover time. The ICP series uses a twist insert-holding method and accommodates insert seat size 27. The functional cutting length is 0.448 inches. Applications are limited to drilling; this insert is not rated for milling or turning operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for ISCAR ICP series modular drill bodies accepting seat size 27 inserts. Specific drill body compatibility should be confirmed against ISCAR ICP series tooling catalogs using ISO number ICP 279.
Replaceable tip drill inserts of this type are installed and removed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the torque key or wrench specified by the drill body manufacturer. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before any insert exchange. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Do not use damaged inserts or attempt to resharpen carbide replaceable tips in the field.
