The ISCAR 5506648 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the ICP series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. The tip carries an IC908 submicron carbide grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It measures 0.823 inches in cutting diameter with a functional length of 0.331 inches and an overall height of 0.457 inches. The 140-degree included angle and web-thinned point reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. With two slow-spiral flutes and a honed cutting edge, this drill produces consistent hole quality in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments are the primary installers of this tooling.
The ICP0823 tip is engineered primarily for drilling steel (ISO material group P) and is rated for secondary use in stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys and titanium, and hard materials (ISO groups M, K, S, and H). The replaceable-tip format allows the cutting head to be swapped at the machine without disturbing the drill body, reducing downtime in production drilling cycles. This tip conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, making it compatible with digital tool management and presetting workflows common in modern CNC environments.
Designed as a replaceable cutting tip for ISCAR ICP series drill bodies with an insert seat size of 20 and ISO number ICP 209. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following the drill body manufacturer's assembly procedure. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing the tip. Use the correct torque wrench or assembly key specified by ISCAR for the ICP series body to avoid over-torquing the tip seat. Inspect the tip seat and locating features for chips or debris before seating the new tip.
