The ISCAR 5506326 is a solid carbide turning insert in the Isoturn series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This DCET-style insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a right-hand cutting orientation and a 0.002 inch corner radius for fine finishing cuts. The insert carries the IC907 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating, which delivers thermal resistance and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders during tight-tolerance finishing operations where controlled chip evacuation and edge stability are critical.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous metals, stainless steels, heat-resistant superalloys, and non-ferrous materials. The WF chip breaker geometry supports light-to-moderate depth of cut applications and promotes efficient chip flow in close-clearance turning situations. The Isoturn series is a recognized ISCAR platform for small-part and precision profile turning. This insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards for cutting tool data representation, which allows direct integration with CAM and tool management systems.
Designed for use in DCET-style toolholders compatible with the ISCAR Isoturn series. Suitable for primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous, steel, stainless, and superalloy applications. Verify toolholder bore and insert pocket specifications before installation.
This insert is installed and changed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before any insert change. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw when seating the insert to ensure proper contact with the pocket surfaces. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
