The ISCAR 5505574 is a solid carbide boring insert in the TPGX221 style, designed for precision turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Featuring an IC908 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 60-degree triangular geometry with an 11-degree relief angle and positive rake promotes clean cutting action with reduced cutting forces. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/8-inch thickness, it is sized for light to medium boring applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments will find this insert well suited to demanding material removal tasks.
This insert is part of the ISCAR Isoturn series and is designed for use in compatible TPGX-style boring bars and turning toolholders. It performs across a broad range of workpiece materials, with a primary workpiece material code covering H, K, M, P, and S material groups per ISO classification. Typical applications include internal diameter boring, finish turning, and light roughing on steel, stainless, cast iron, high-temp alloys, and nonferrous materials. The left-hand insert hand designation should be confirmed against toolholder requirements before ordering. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 pieces.
Designed for use in TPGX-style boring bars and turning toolholders that accept a left-hand, 60-degree triangular insert with a 0.1378-inch hole diameter. Compatible material groups include H, K, M, P, and S per ISO classification, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and nonferrous materials.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamp screw and ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before seating. Confirm left-hand orientation matches the toolholder configuration before installation.
