The ISCAR 5505154 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the TPMR insert style with a 60-degree triangular shape, this insert carries the IC907 grade designation and features a TiAlN and TiN PVD coating for extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. It has a 3/8-inch (0.3748 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch (0.0157 inch) corner radius, and an insert length of 16.5 mm (0.6496 inch). The positive rake geometry and R chip breaker support efficient chip evacuation. Machining professionals and CNC operators install this insert as part of the Isoturn series tooling system.
This insert is suited for turning operations on a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups H, M, and S. It is designed for use in clamp-style insert holders that accept TPMR-style triangular inserts with a clearance code of P and tolerance code of M. Typical applications include external turning, facing, and light profiling passes where a positive rake insert geometry is preferred. Maximum depth of cut is 4.00 mm (0.1575 inch).
Designed for use with clamp-style turning toolholders accepting TPMR 321 triangular inserts. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S per ISO classification. Part of the ISCAR Isoturn series. Verify holder pocket geometry and seating surface before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Discard damaged or chipped inserts immediately — do not attempt to re-grind PVD-coated carbide inserts.
